Games in the Snow
Snow Pictures
Create pictures in the snow by walking to create the designs. For younger
girls leaders can lead a chain of girls in the pattern - older girls can be
challenged to create their own designs by being put into groups. After wards
they can try and figure out what everyone else drew.
Can also do snow angel competitions - have races to see who can
make it the fastest, races to see which team can make the most, which team can
come up with the most creative arrangement of snow angels, have them attempt to
make one snow angel with one person being the left leg, another the right leg,
another the left arm, and so on.
SnowFlake Designs
Take the girls to a relatively flat area with at least a few inches of
undisturbed snow. Put them in teams of 3 -4 girls and have them design giant
snowflakes by walking in the snow tracking down the design.
Snow Man (Woman) Decorating Competition
Whenever the snow is right take the girls outside - put them in
teams and challenge them to build the best, most interesting, funniest snowman.
Provide them with a bag of old scarves, carrots, brooms, hats, buttons and
whatever you can find that could be used for decorating. Have prizes for
everyone - treats, crests showing winter fun, stickers - and have an official
awards presentation.
Follow up with hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows!
Ice Capades
Invite all the units in your district/division to a day in the
winter in a local park.
Have everyone bring an ice cream bucket filled with frozen
water.
Older girls will be challenged to carve their ice into whatever
they want - will require chisels, and picks for carving. Will also require lots
of supervision!
Younger girls will paint their ice into wonderful colours using
watered down food colouring (this will not harm any animals that may find left
overs). Provide each girl with an apron, or sheeting to protect snow suits.
Everyone should be asked to bring old gloves, wrap ends of sleeves in saran wrap
to protect them from dye. To make it easier have the food colouring in squirt
bottles (ketchup, mustard containers) and brushes to spread it around. They will
have to move quickly as it will freeze to the ice very fast.
Take other buckets of ice that are not carved or coloured and
set tea lights on the top. As the sun disappears light the tea lights and follow
the trail of ice candles to a campfire.
Also include games, wiener roast and lots of hot chocolate and
hot ice tea.
