Hawaii Camp in the Winter

Camp plan from Marjorie Claffey 66th Girl Guides Edmonton

1. we board the plane.. (bus)

2. arrive at camp..

  • Give the girls a lei as they get off the bus, welcome them to camp

3. set up camp

4. let each patrol think of a Hawaiian name for their patrol and make a palm tree out of construction paper and cardboard tubes (these will identify each patrol)

5. Have a chocolate fondue with Hawaiian fruits.

6. Beach Party:

  • gather all your blue sleeping bags, spread on floor pretend it's the water.
  • Have girls put on bathing suits, grass skirts, sunglasses, towels, sun screen, ect.
  • Put on loud music traditional Hawaii music, Beach boys.
  • Now get in the water and go surfing(pretend) have water fights.. This was so much fun.

7. Craft

  • Cut out flowers from felt, hole punch the centre of them. Thread them on to yarn and space them out with long beads.
  • One flower then long bead keep repeating. Tie end together to make Lei.

8. For supper have a luau with a Hula show.

  • Let each patrol make up their own Hula dance using Hawaiian music the theme from the "LILO AND STICH" movie was very popular with our girls.
  • They wore grass skirts we made from big black garbage bags with bathing suits.
  • For supper we had, Mi Tie's (virgin of course),chicken with pineapple and other Hawaiian foods. Use your imagination
  • .The dinner show was very entertaining......DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA.

9. OUTSIDE:

  • We still went tobogganing, snow shoeing, hike to the frozen lake, we had a snow ball fight.
  • We also did wood burning as a craft.

I think this was one of our best camps ever!!!!!!
