Pool Party
Every winter our Brownie unit holds a tropical pool party at a community
pool.
-
We choose a pool that has a long shallow end, two slides, and a rope
swing.
-
We request beach music to be played at the pool in advance.
-
To set the mood we invite the girls to wear Hawaiian shirts and bathing
suit skirts.
-
-
On arrival at the pool we greet the girls and give each a plastic lei. We
put out tropical coloured beads and lacing at the pool side table for anyone
who wants to craft as well as swim.
-
For games we have played:
-
pool tag
-
water freeze tag (where the girls have to swim underneath a frozen
Brownie to un freeze them.)
-
catch with beach balls
-
monkey in the middle with beach balls
-
Mermaid swim, where the girls swim/hop/walk the width of the shallow
end being as creative a Mermaid as they can.
-
a relay where the girls see which teams can blow a ping pong ball
across the width of the pool and back the fastest.
-
fancy swimming through a partially submerged hula hoop in the shallow
end.
Of course the girls also slide on the slides, swing on the rope, and swim all
about with their friends.
We end the night with popsicles pool side. (These we bring in a cooler packed
with frozen freezer containers - they have never melted yet!)
This evening has been great fun for all!
