Fun Winter Camp Ideas

Compass work can be done with colorful winter games that can be played with very little supplies.

Ice cube scavenger hunt

Materials:

  • compasses
  • compass direction
  • coloured ice cubes

Directions"

  • Hide the ice cubes in locations that can be found by the compass directions
  • Give the girls compass directions and a compass
    • have the directions going from different directions so that more than one girl (or team) can be out at the same time
  • Have the girls note the colour at each station
  • First girl or team that has found all the colours correctly is the winner

Compass Story

Directions:

  • Make a large compass on the snow by using coloured water (water will freeze to snow)
  • Compass shuld show the 8 main points (N, S, E, W, NE, SE, NW, SW)
  • Tell a story where the girls move from one compass point to another

This game will help girls learn the basic points on the compass in a fun and active way.

Artistic impressions

Directions:

  • Give each patrol buckets of coloured water
  • Have them create a design and picture to describe their patrol name
