Bright Ideas - Camp and Sleepovers
Tacky Tourist Camp
-
Decorate the main area with a world map hung on the wall with pinpoint
flags marking countries of destination.
-
Upon arriving, each girl is greeted by a Guider/ Mom stewardess and given
her passport book with personal information on the inside cover, i.e.
name, address along with a photo of the girl (photo should be taken a week or
two before camp and trimmed down to fit the passport).
-
The stewardess will also give each girl her travel documents, (plane, bus,
boat and train tickets and also travellers' cheques).
-
The stewardess will then give the girls over to the motel manager who will
welcome them and show them to their rooms, which should have poster from all
over the world.
-
Each destination should have a Guider/Mom helper dressed for that country.
-
Each destination should have 1 or 2 facts or traditions from that country.
-
Also music from the same culture would help set the mood. Your local
library has a wide selection of music to choose from.
-
Each girl could be asked to bring sunglasses, hat, and whatever tacky
tourist stuff they would like to bring.
-
At each port of entry, passports could be stamped or stickers given.
